Our story

Founded in 2000 by Edith Severs, CPI is women-founded and women-led, independent then, independent now.

Founder Edith Severs and General Manager Sascha van Verseveld

Edith gained her experience at, among others, Buma/Stemra and Zomba Music Group, representing artists like the Backstreet Boys, Iron Maiden, John Lee Hooker and Britney Spears, the roots of CPI's international outlook and network. In the early years, CPI also built the publishing catalogue for Massive Music.

Today, Edith co-leads CPI with Sascha van Verseveld, General Manager and architect of our royalty platform Royalty Power. Together they run a company that protects rights, empowers creators and unlocks the full potential of every catalogue.

Independent

An independent music publisher: no group targets decide whose catalogue gets attention this quarter, the only thing that decides is what your music is actually earning, and what it should be earning instead.

In-house legal

We manage copyrights, collect neighbouring rights, handle sync and licensing, and give legal advice from our own in-house team. Nothing is outsourced, which is why an answer takes days rather than weeks.

Global reach, personal service

Clients have described us as pitbulls. We take it as a compliment. Royalties go missing quietly: a work registered in one territory but not the next, a recording credited to the wrong performer, a distribution that simply never arrives. Finding those is the job.

Recognition

Award-winning media music

Works we publish or administer, at the Buma Music in Media Awards.
